Project SafeGuard

Project SafeGuard is a range of data protection services offered by Carl Sandburg College to educational and governmental agencies throughout the College district. Services range from offline backup of critical data to a full range of hosting, disaster recovery and business continuity services. The project was started as an extension of EduNet services that are currently offered by the College.

The College Board of Trustees in December 2006 and January 2007 approved these services to be provided by the College to educational institutions throughout the district and upgrade the data center infrastructure to provide a robust, scalable and secure environment.

As a part of Project SafeGuard services, the College has partnered with Skyward to offer a state of the art fully integrated student management software at a significant consortial discount price and the sharing of implementation and training services.

The college uses state of the art data management technologies, which include server virtualization, redundant backup using hard drives and tape backup units and dynamic resource allocation.

Services provided by Project SafeGuard include:

    1.Remote hosting of all or just critical servers: SafeGuard Services will host, manage, upgrade and provide disaster recovery and business continuity services.

    2.Offline backup of critical data

    3.Help school districts migrate to state of the art web based integrated administrative software system and coordinate ongoing training and support of the system.
